We are developing a cross-platform, config-driven eco-system for defining home labs. Megabyte Labs aims to combine all of the best, well-received GitHub projects (that have lots of stars) into a network-installer that can either be run with minimal configuration or entirely automated.
About Gas Station
Gas Station
is an Ansible playbook that the entire Megabyte Labs
eco-system was built around. The goal of the project is to
setup a fully-configured, multi-user home lab environment
with the best, most-GitHub-starred projects that might
improve the efficiency of developers by leveraging the
best-in-class (free) software, (open-source) web-apps, and
(cheap) hardware available.
About Subway Station
Subway Station
is a set of Terraform configurations leveraged by Gas
Station to configure free SaaS offerings that augment the
stack.
About Bodega
Bodega
is a fork of the go-task project that adds features like an
integrated prompt system, web-socket control capabilities
when registered as a service, and improved logging
features.
About Hotdog Stand
Hotdog Stand
(dedicated to my dog Ella) is a Kubernetes deployment
integrated into Gas Station that deploys a hybrid
on-premise/cloud multi-cluster mainly powered by KubeSphere,
CloudFlare, and a few other key products.
About JumpUSB
JumpUSB
(a.k.a.
The Gym) is a wrapper for Ventoy and Netboot.xyz that allows you
to create an all-in-one USB that you can use to boot pretty
much anything. It also integrates with our other products by
including configurations necessary to perform a headless
installations.
About Seafood Restaurant
Seafood Restaurant
is a suite of scripts and configurations that allow you to
set up a server that continuously downloads software from
various mirrors and package repositories. It is built with
the intention of being hosted on a write-protected medium so
you can access all the software you need offline and without
having to worry if the latest network worm has compromised
your base packages.
Our Web Apps
Megabyte Labs designs tools for anything we wish already existed. Sometimes those tools end up maturing into web applications. Below, you can find a short list of web applications that we have designed. It is not a comprehensive list.
Although we do not host public repositories with the source to our applications, feel free to reach out if you are interested in borrowing some of the code.
About GitHub Spreadsheet
GitHub Spreadsheet
is a tool we use to find and compare GitHub trends. It takes an array of "Awesome" lists and then scrapes all the links in the list, looking for GitHub repositories with lots of stars. GitHub Spreadsheet is powered by [Rowy](https://deploy.rowy.app/). The finished product is an Excel-like filterable table that you can use to sort repositories by the number of stars or forks they have.
About Video Blobs
Video Blobs
is the successor to Music Blobs. Since Music Blobs turned out so well, we ventured into video by creating an algorithm that clones the most popular Creative Commons content on YouTube. Sadly, the algorithm did not produce the consistently high-quality results we were looking for. It did manage to find a pretty sweet artist named [NEFFEX](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CYDP_8UTAus) though. However, the site comes loaded with some great Ionic / Angular integration examples that we plan on packaging and releasing as NPM packages.
About Music Blobs
Music Blobs
was originally a script that kept track of chart-topping songs on [The Hype Machine](https://hypem.com/popular) and [SoundCloud](https://soundcloud.com/charts/top). The algorithm that powers it works well so the project evolved into an app. It has a [really cool visualizer feature](https://musicblobs.com/visualizer/What%20I%20Know%20Now%20(feat%252E%20Wiz%20Khalifa)-THEY%252E) that you might stare at for a good 14 seconds.
